French-Algerian driver Isack Hadjar makes his Formula 1 debut for Red Bull sister team Racing Bulls in the F1 2025 season.

Born on September 28 2004, the Paris-born star partners Yuki Tsunoda and will race car No. 6.

Hadjar is one of five drivers competing in their first full season at the start of 2025 along with Liam Lawson (Red Bull), Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes), Oliver Bearman (Haas), Jack Doohan (Alpine) and Gabriel Bortoleto (Sauber).

A member of Red Bull's famed driver academy, Hadjar graduates to an F1 seat after finishing second to Bortoleto in F1 feeder series Formula 2 in 2024.

Despite holding French-Algerian citizenship, Hadjar officially competes under the French flag and becomes the 74th F1 driver to hail from France.

He is the first French driver to make his F1 debut since Pierre Gasly in 2017 and the 19th to emerge from Red Bull's junior scheme.

Carriera

Hadjar made his first appearance on an official F1 race weekend for Racing Bulls (then AlphaTauri) at the 2023 Mexican Grand Prix, deputising for Tsunoda in FP1 at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

His second FP1 appearance came weeks later at the 2023 season finale in Abu Dhabi, where he piloted Red Bull's title-winning RB19 car in opening practice

In 2024, Hadjar took over Sergio Perez's Red Bull in FP1 at the British Grand Prix and replaced Max Verstappen in first practice in Abu Dhabi.

His promotion to a Racing Bulls seat was announced on December 20 2024.

Storia

Hadjar's interest in motorsport is said to have been sparked by watching the animated movie Cars as a child.

After starting competitive karting in 2012, he participated in the FIA Karting World Championship in 2018 and finished 22nd, graduating to cars the following year.

Hadjar made his single-seater debut in the French F4 championship in 2019, claiming his first victory in cars at the third round of the season at Spa.

Three further victories the following year saw him finish third in the standings as future Red Bull stablemate Ayumu Iwasa took the title.

Hadjar moved up to the Formula Regional European Championship for 2021, as well as driving in the F3 Asian series.

He returned to the F3 Asian category in early 2022, taking two wins en route to third place in the championship in preparation for a step up to FIA Formula 3.

Despite winning on his F3 debut in Bahrain for Hitech Grand Prix, and adding two more victories at Silverstone and the Red Bull Ring, Hadjar was forced to settle for fourth in the championship.

That year also saw Hadjar join the Red Bull Junior Team, setting him on course for a future F1 promotion.

Hadjar stepped up to F2, F1's official feeder category, for 2023, but a winless season en route to a distant 14th in the championship raised doubts over his future.

Following a move to Campos, he responded strongly in 2024 by claiming his first F2 victory in Melbourne, adding a second at Imola weeks later.

Hadjar led the standings by 36 points following his fourth and final victory of the season at Spa in July 2024.

However, he managed just one podium finishes across the final four rounds - a span of eight races - as Bortoleto took the title by 22.5 points.

Little is known about Hadjar's net worth.

His contract with Racing Bulls for the F1 2025 season is reported to be worth between $500,000 and $1million.

Hadjar's income is likely to be further boosted by personal sponsorship arrangements with the likes of NH Expertises, Swing One, Moteur & Sens and Pit Legend.

Hadjar hails from a science-orientated family.

His father, Yassine, holds a PhD in quantum physics and works as an R&D senior scientist at the University of Technology of Troyes, having been an amateur racing driver in his youth.

Hadjar Sr is believed to have introduced his son to karting at the age of six and served as his mechanic in Hadjar's early days.

His mother, Randa, is also believed to have a scientific background and today acts as Hadjar's manager.
